[edit] Describe John's books

John Connolly may perhaps be the best mainstream novelist working today. In my opinion his books bring both fastidious research in regards to the background and setting of his novels as well as an eerie cynicism enveloping man's behavior towards other men. The main character of his novels - Charlie Parker - is destined, it seems, never to be happy yet his doggedness and imperfection is what makes him such a unique and fascinating character. Connolly mixes and matches noir, mystery, crime and supernatural elements in his stories.

  • You need to read them all, in order, to best appreciate the genius of his work.
