[edit] Book worth
I have a couple of books by this dude, think they'd be worth anything now? {unsigned}
- Check abebooks.com for prices - it's doubtful very much since so many were published they are not rare. -- Stbalbach 15:46, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Confirm Death Date
I have a book by Ridpath written in 1918. When did he really die? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Reaganamerican (talk • contribs) 02:51, 4 March 2007 (UTC).
I too have a book from 1913 and it is signed
"Dedication I leave these volumes (my love) to my children" Followed by his signature.
History of the United States Vol. I Era of Discovery 1-500
There is no way he died in 1900!

Agree, they must have the date of death wrong. In fact, the 9 volume edition of the History of the World is actually 10 volumes. When the First World War broke out, he decided to write a 10 edition to be included with the 9 volume set. It is titled "The Great War". I have all 10 volumes, handed down to me a long time ago. Obviously, how could he have written it if he died 14 years earlier?
The interesting thing is that I can find no record anywhere on the Web of this 10th volume, even though I own it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bpecht (talk • contribs) 00:23, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Questions on date of Death/History of the United States
I too have a set of "History of the United States." However; it is a 12 volume set dated 1918, not a 10 volume set dated in 1905 as the Wikipedia article mentions. It has the same dedication as above of "Dedication I leave these volumes to (my love) my children" followed by his signature. Were these final 2 volumes added after his death by another writer as an amendment or updated history? Or did he amend them and actually died much later than originally stated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.18.43.46 (talk) 15:18, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
