From the link he seems mildly notable, and campaigns against wrongful imprisonment. I have a slight problem with (ex-convict) and would prefer (campaigner) though --Steve 06:45, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

This man has received so much media coverage in Western Australia that he is practically a household name. I am going to remove the speedy deletion notice. Dontdoit, you need to expand this a bit so that his notability is more obvious. Hesperian 06:47, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

John Button is certainly notable enough, I feel the title ex-convict is missleading as it has connotations of convictism. (campaigner) would indeed be more appropriate.Ghostieguide 01:29, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Capital punishment

John Button's case is yet another reason I am opposed to capital punishment. If Eric Cook had been kept alive, more information could have been coerced from him, and the conviction against Button quashed much earlier. Not that the WA police would have had much interest in that - the officers resposible would have ended up in the clink for perjury, as they forced a confession from Button through physical violence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.253.144.148 (talk) 00:37, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

For future editors of this article: please be mindful of your language! Although incidents like this stir up emotions (and rightly so!) we have to make-sure we keep these our of wikipedia. Try to keep all wording neutral. Avoid unnecessary adjectives that can often contain personal opinions.

And perhaps you'd be so kind as to sign your posts and establish user and talk pages. The language used was perfectly justified in my opinion; would you care to explain where the "bias" is? You've simply expressed a subjective opinion which, unless substantiated, has no more worth than mine or that of the other editors of this article. Don't lecture us; offer some reasonable argument.
