[edit] Quote, teaching, etc.

I removed the quote at the beginning of the article; it's not an appropriate location. Someone can add it back into the body of the article if they can find an appropriate place, just probably not at the beginning. I removed Major Library Holdings, Teaching Experience, and Major Exhibitions of Paintings, as I didn't think they were appropriate or needed here; this shouldn't read like a resumé. That makes sense. Being extremely new to Wiki environment, I thought the quote required verification and added it back in with verification in same location. If needed, I will move the quote to another location of the article. I looked at other sites and many have quotes in that area. Thanks for your input. Giotopanga (talk) 18:22, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

QUESTION: Are there areas where I should have cited ISBN #s? For instance, the quote comes from Hirschman's preface in a book...Giotopanga (talk) 18:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I would like to know how to get this article off the categories it is listed under currently: unsourced, etc...all content is verifiable...new to this... Giotopanga (talk) 06:20, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

You need to add references using this format;
<ref>[WebsiteThatHasTheInformation What you want to say in the reference list]</ref>
And put ==References==
<references/> or {{reflist}} near the bottom of the page
Then you can remove the categories.
I just checked the page and you should put references instead of links on the page. Jerry'teps 06:37, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
If you belive you've satisfied the references just remove the categories from the bottom of the page Jerry'teps 06:38, 22 November 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jerry teps (talkcontribs)

OK, I can see after your email and researching that I need to use the citation template and list the references instead of links?...I am a bit confused about how I listed them and how I should...what does the nowiki used for before <references> I can not get back to the opening paragraph to fix that citation (1) because there is no edit button.

The first reference I actually have an ISDN #...how would I list it? The second is a newspaper acrticle..how would I list that? Giotopanga (talk)

How do I remove this from the categories? Giotopanga (talk)

The nowiki just means that it displays it as text so you could read it in the talk page.
IMO I think the unsourced statments category is for things that you haven't sourced, but I belive you could get away with removing the unsourced statements, just go to the source and remove the Category:....

{{helpme}}I just added in where a citation was indicated as being needed under Work section and a massage showed up that content had been deleted. Now the section with Books with has subsections of Poetry, Haiku and Haibun, Stories, Edited, Translations is gone as well as Major Section Heading Links and References...help Giotopanga (talk)

[edit] some content deleted and I don't understand why

I was adding a requested citation. When finished, a message regarding content deletion showed up via "you have a new message". Now I can't find that message to reference and further understand. In addition, the content that was deleted was Books section which was divided into Poetry, Haiku and Haibun, Stories, Edited, and Translations. Also Links and References were deleted. In addition, in the discussion area There is Cite Error 5 in red. I am new to Wiki...—Preceding unsigned comment added by Giotopanga (talk • contribs) 04:56, 24 November 2007 (UTC) CHALLENGE RESOLVE.
