Talk:John Batiste

This guy is certainly notable for being one of the six Generals to speak out against Donald Rumsfeld. At the very least, this should see an AfD vote. But it's nowhere near CSD A7. Harro5 11:54, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Once supported Rumsfeld?
please read (R) Gen. Eric Shinseki's biography. --El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Qvixote De La Mancha 23:45, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't think you can say he turned down a promotion and retired b/c of Rumsfeld. I think it should read for personal reasons. I don't think he's ever said the reason was b/c of the SECDEF ... also, he is notable because he led a Division (+) in combat ... a 1ID Veteran —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)
eh, turned down a promotion, that is highly unusual. commanding a division is the premier thing to do for army two stars. i don't know how many two stars are in the army, probably hundreds. there is only 10 division commands to go around. probably fair to assume that commanding a division in combat well (seems to be the case here) puts one on the fast track. in addition, one can also imagine how difficult it is to take off the uniform after spending most of one's adult life in it. Gen. Batiste here was willing to give it all up. pretty remarkable. Mct mht 23:13, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Batiste no longer invovled with Vote Vets
