Maybe descriptions of his role and importance could be added to other articles on subjects that he was involved in. Then there would be a reason for this page to exist because it would be an important link in other articles. KarenAnn 12:14, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

The Irish Times article states that the paper was sold to Sir John's widow, and not to him.

Family tradition says he was born in Auchtermuchty in Fife - I will try to find some confirmation of this
