[edit] Personal knowledge

Is it OK for one of the author's to use his own personal knowledge of the article subject as a source? It seems as though that would not be a usable reference as it cannot be proven or verified? Is there a policy?--dave-- 13:24, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes there is a policy... and it states that such knowledge can not be used. See WP:V and the supporting guideline WP:RS. Also see WP:ATT... not yet a policy or guideline but nicely summs up what the general concensus on this is. Blueboar 14:21, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. I actually brought the subject up at the village pump and got the same response. I'll try contacting the original editor to have him/her clean things up.--dave-- 15:29, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
