I took the following text from the main page, but I hate to cut it completely. Katharineamy 22:53, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

My name is Katlyn and this is my Grandfather. I was very young when he died, and do not have any memories of him. Throughout my childhood I heard many stories, and I learned how he cared for his children and his grandchildren. He loved writing, and that is what I am reminded of when I get compimented on my own writing. When he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, life got a lot harder for him. The years before that had not been easy either, and now the things he enjoyed in life were slipping away. I cannot speak for my grandfather, but based on the stories I've heard I can only imagine how he must have felt.

My grandfather is missed dearly by his grandchildren, and his children who lost their mother only a few years before. I only wish I could have been older because I'd like to have my own memories as well, and I cant help but wonder how different my life would be had he been around. Our whole family is now broken.

My sister (who I no longer have contact with) once showed me the article clippings of his death. I have to say, at least my grandfather died a somewhat happy death. By that I mean it waa not painful, or unexpected and it was the decision he chose whether we liked it or not. Some people say suicide is selfish, and I can see that perspective. I can also see feeling like theres nothing left, wanting something better, trying to flee from the pain.

I have no anger towards my grandfather, only love and respect, because I think in an odd kind of way...I can actually understand how he might have felt. I bet that we would have much in common, other than our love for writng and I'd like to believe that somehow, he is still here, watching over my pen and paper. Maybe he is that voice in my head that gives my great ideas.

We love you Grandpa. Kate

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:John Porteous.jpg

Image:John Porteous.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
