Talk:John A. Kilpatrick
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I understand that this article has been marked for speedy deletion. I would challenge this, and would cite the following from Wikipedia's standards for nobility:
The person has been the subject of published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject. He has been featured in articles in numerous major U.S. and Canadian publications, and is himself the author of over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, invited talks, and scholarly presentations. He is frequently (about once a month) cited as an authority in complex real estate matters in various State and Federal courts in the U.S., and his opinions are included in major judicial rulings, including several State Supreme Court and appeals court rulings.
The person has received significant recognized awards or honors. His recent national and international honors include being named a Member of the Faculty of Valuation of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the American Real Estate Society, and a Visiting Scholar at the Zicklin School of Business. He was honored in 2000 with a monograph published by the S.C. Department of Archives and History and the U.S. Park Service commemorating his research in historic property valuation.
The person has demonstrable wide name recognition He is widely considered to be one of the leading authorities in America on complex real estate valuation (hence, the wide citation of his opinions in the Courts.) His work on brownfield valuation is unique.
The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field Again, his significant contribution to court rulings the U.S. would probably, by itself, be reason enough for an inclusion about him in wikipedia.
Finally, I would cite, without comment, the Wikipedia guidelines for nobility of academics. It's clear that Kilpatrick has satisified all of these.
The person is regarded as a significant expert in his or her area by independent sources. The person is regarded as an important figure by independent academics in the same field. The person has published a significant and well-known academic work. An academic work may be significant or well known if, for example, it is the basis for a textbook or course, if it is itself the subject of multiple, independent works, if it is widely cited by other authors in the academic literature[1]. The person's collective body of work is significant and well-known. The person is known for originating an important new concept, theory or idea which is the subject of multiple, independent, non-trivial reviews or studies in works meeting our standards for reliable sources. The person has received a notable award or honor, or has been often nominated for them.
