WHat is the basis for the claim that he was sovereign Duke of Jülich and Cleves after 1679? My understanding was that he succeeded to all his father's title's on the latter's death in 1690. Even if he was acting as governor/regent in the north during his father's reign, that doesn't make him the sovereign of them. john k (talk) 06:30, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
