Probably? You should find out more. His name sounds very Jewish (Gottlieb Goldberg), and he was born in Poland, so.. Nimrot12 (talk) 21:03, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

It's not known. The current edition of the New Grove calls him "German", and begins their biography of him with "Very little documentary evidence about Goldberg's life has survived..." Feel free to go to a library and do some more research, but it may require some digging. Antandrus (talk) 21:36, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
