Johnny "J"

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johnny Jackson, better-known in the music industry as Johnny "J", is a multi-platinum music producer & former rapper who is perhaps best known for his production on Tupac Shakur's albums All Eyez on Me and Me Against the World. He was born in Juarez, Mexico in 1969 and raised in South Central Los Angeles. Johnny "J" now runs Klock Work Entertainment.

Johnny J started producing professionally in 1987. His first hit single was a song called "Knockin Boots" by a west-coast artist named Candyman. Johnny J has worked with many other west-coast artists in his career, but most notably with 2Pac, Bizzy Bone, Jon B, and more recently, Napoleon--a former member of 2Pac's rap group, The Outlawz.

Jackson released his debut rap album in 1995 titled I Gotta Be Me.

In 2004, Johnny J appeared on the tribute song for late rapper Tupac Shakur titled "Never Forget" with Val Young and Napoleon. A small-budget music video was eventually made for this song and numerous people who knew the deceased rapper, including Jackson, appeared on the video as a sign of respect.

In a recent interview with MrMakaveli.com, Johnny J said that as of 2008, he is currently working with singer Tatyana Ali on her sophomore album The Light.
