John "Johnny" Zacchara (born John Anthony Zacchara) is a fictional character on the ABC soap opera, General Hospital. Within the series, he is the son of notorious NYC crime lord, Anthony Zacchara. He is now a mobster of the Zacchara organization. Johnny is portrayed by Brandon Barash on contract status.

[edit] First Impressions
Johnny was first introduced to the audience on September 18, 2007 when Trevor Lansing received a warning phone call of Johnny's impending arrival in Port Charles. Trevor alludes to Johnny's wild ways by telling the caller that they need to find a way to control him, or else "Johnny will ruin everything." It was later said that Johnny was accused of rape and many other crimes, all were dropped. It was also implied that Johnny was mentally insane. Towards the end of the episode an upset Lulu Spencer hitches a ride with a stranger - who turns out to be none other than Johnny Zacchara making his way to town.
Lulu's apparent disappearance causes worry among her friends and family. When Jason Morgan and Damian Spinelli pull surveillance footage surrounding her boyfriend Logan Hayes' apartment they discover that she hitched a ride with a car registered to the Zaccharas. Later on, Trevor reveals to Jason that as a child, Johnny witnessed his mother's brutal murder. His father killed her. Anthony got jealous when Johnny's mother Maria canceled plans with him because she wanted to take Johnny to a concert. So he pointed a gun at Johnny and Maria got in the way and ended up being the one who got shot. Trevor covered up the murder by saying an intruder got in the house but Johnny knew the truth. After the death of his mother, Johnny's father became obsessed with keeping Johnny close to home. He does this because Jonny reminds Anthony so much of Maria. He pulled Johnny out of high school and practically made him a prisoner in his own home.
Jason and Spinelli track down Johnny's car illegally parked alongside Route 91 with a broken fuel line. They hear a scream from Lulu, who is then seen running into an abandoned barn with Johnny close behind her. Jason is able to reach Lulu before Johnny does, and the two engage in a standoff. [1] Lulu emerges from her hiding spot and tries to keep Johnny and Jason from killing each other. The rumors of Johnny's mental instability are confirmed when he begins to act recklessly. The stand-off is interrupted by Anthony Zacchara's henchmen who come to pick up Johnny. Afterwards, Lulu explains to Spinelli and Jason that Johnny never hurt her. The scream they had heard was a result of mere horseplay. Johnny had gun on Carly after he found out that he was being set up. On October 11, 2007 Jason Morgan kidnapped Johnny. On October 15, 2007 it was revealed that Zacchara is very abusive towards Johnny, including hitting him.
Johnny started texting Lulu and wanted to see her again. Johnny became good friends with Lulu and together they would vent on the frustrations of their fathers. Although LuLu is already involved with Logan Hayes LuLu and Johnny begin to develop a strong chemistry/bond.
When Lulu was kidnapped so that Johnny will go home, he goes right away so that his handlers won't hurt Lulu. After Johnny goes home and tells Lulu he doesn't want to see her again(he does this to protect her), he lets Sonny Corinthos in to see his father, who turns out to be crazy.

On October 31, 2007, Johnny went to Nikolas Cassadine's Black and White Ball at Wyndemere to save Lulu before his father could kill her. He danced with Maxie Jones and Nadine so he could blend in to get closer to Lulu and take her out of there. At the ball, he risked his life to save most of the ungrateful guests but was too late to save Nikolas's fiancee Emily Quartermaine, who was strangled to death, probably by Diego. Johnny was also used as bait (by being held at gun-point) by Sonny Corinthos to lure his father , Anthony Zacchara out for the depths of the dark and gloomy Cassadines castle. This attempt fails and Sonny does not go through with his threat to Johnny.
On November 15, 2007, Johnny revealed to Lulu that after his mother's death, he ran away to live with his uncle, aunt, and two cousins. Zacchara found him and killed the entire family,which is why Johnny tries to not run away anymore.
Since then Johnny has taken his father's place in the mob. He and Trevor Lansing are working together. Although Johnny is reluctant to work with Trevor Lansing and acts very rebellious. Johnny shows how much he cares for Lulu by returning to check on her when her father, Luke, was about to in for heart surgery only to find Lulu in Logan's arms. Trevor set up Lulu so that Johnny would see her get killed and think Sonny set it up, But Johnny pulled Lulu out of the way right in time. When Lulu and Johnny went to confront Sonny, they overheard Sonny giving orders to Jason Morgan to kill him. Lulu wanted to go talk to Sonny but Johnny pulled her away and brought her to Kelly's telling her not to tell anyone what they overheard. However, Lulu pleads with Carly to talk Sonny out of killing Johnny. Later on, Lulu met up with Johnny to tell him that she has talked to Carly and she was going to straighten everything out. Johnny pulls Lulu into a kiss and tells Lulu that he doesn't want her involved with his work because she is the only bright spot in his life and he doesn't know what he would do if he ever lost her. But Lulu still doesn't give up. Lulu goes directly to Sonny to try to solve things but he gives her no assurances, telling her to stay out of the matter. So Lulu asks Johnny to meet her at the overlook and begs him to leave town before he gets killed.
Johnny berates Lulu for her constant interference in his affairs, and calls her out on having feelings for him.
Trevor had Johnny go alone to a meeting, originally to form an alliance with a man known only as "Moreau" an illegal drug dealer ( who is really Jerry Jacks ). Trevor advised Johnny to go unarmed, however Johnny grabbed a gun from his desk drawer without Trevor noticing. Johnny arrived at the meeting expecting to directly meet with Moreau, but instead he was met with a group of Moreau's "buddies". They infuriated him by calling him "Junior" and told him he will never be as good at the business as his old man. Johnny decided to show the men who's boss by pulling out the gun and threatening one of the men. Johnny was easily disarmed and held face down on the table. Johnny walked away from the meeting, wanting nothing to do with Moreau; nevertheless Trevor insisted that he is a useful ally against the Corinthos' (even though it is really only Trevor that wants a war with Sonny).
Moreau's desire to use the Zacchara's shipping lanes as compensation for protecting the Zacchara's is met with continual opposition from Johnny. Johnny's refusal to cooperate or even talk to Moreau leads to Lulu being kidnapped and held hostage. Moreau informs Johnny that once his shipments go through, Lulu will be released but if Johnny refuses she will be killed. Johnny has agreed to him using the lanes but he doesn't intend to wait for them to release Lulu, so he formed an alliance with Logan and Spinelli (two more of Lulu's suitors) to try to find Lulu.
Upon Spinelli's discovery that Lulu is being held in a monastery outside of Port Charles, the three head out to find her. Arriving at the monastery, the three reluctantly agree that Spinelli be allowed first chance to find Lulu. While waiting outside, Johnny suggests to Logan that they split up and access an alternative route into the building through the underground tunnels. Once inside, Johnny eventually stumbles upon Lulu passed out in the catacombs underneath the building.
Confused, alone, and disoriented, Lulu lashes out at Johnny for his involvement in her kidnapping, and inadvertently pushes him onto a dagger lying on the ground. Johnny and Lulu find a storage supply area in the catacombs. They enter and don't notice the door start to shut and because they are both injured, they aren't able to reach the door to keep it open. While taking a break from trying to find the spot that opens the door, Johnny and Lulu share some rum, and get a tad bit drunk. Johnny takes the bottle out of her hands playfully, and they kiss tenderly. Lulu tries to make it more than a kiss, but Johnny stops her because he wants them to be "real."
Johnny is able to find that spot in the door that opens it and he and Lulu are able to escape. When they leave, they discover Spinelli and Johnny tells him to take Lulu to safety. When Spinelli and Lulu leave, Johnny goes back to where he and Lulu were trapped and grabs some jars of gunpowder and heads onto the boat that Moreau's shipment is on (He is unaware that Moreau's thugs have Lulu on the boat as well). He spreads the gunpowder everywhere in the boiler room even though his leg is in extreme pain. He gets a call from Moreau who asks for his cooperation. When he refuses to do so, Moreau gives the order to kill Lulu. However, thanks to the efforts of Johnny, Logan, and Jason, Lulu is able to be saved. Everyone hurries off the boat except for Johnny who hurries and lights the gunpowder but he is met with one of Moreau's thugs as he tries to hurry off the boat. They fight and he kicks Johnny in the leg (right on his wound) bringing him down before he runs for safety himself. From the safety of the docks, Lulu looks on in horror as the boat blows up, with Johnny supposedly on board.
Lulu finds Johnny in one of Alcazar's warehouses freezing with a badly hurt leg. She goes to the hospital where she makes a deal with Elizabeth in order to get antibiotics for Johnny. When she returns, however, Johnny is missing. She finds him curled up on a couch on the Haunted Star. She gives him antibiotics and cleans his leg wound. When his fever gets worse, she finds a blanket, wraps Johnny up in it, and holds him until he falls asleep. Johnny tells her before he falls asleep that when he was 5 or 6 his mother had done the same exact thing when he had been sick. Throughout the whole ordeal, they bonded and they both realized how much they loved each other. Johnny tells Lulu that she is beautiful and then says, "If love did look like anything..." Then he stops himself from telling her he loves her.
Johnny stays on the Haunted Star because he doesn't want Trevor to find him and he begins to heal, although he is still weak. Lulu brings him food and dry clothes and keeps him company while he is healing. She discovers that he plays the piano very well because when he was a kid his mother made him take it up however he stopped it when his father killed his her and he has only recently taken it up again. He explained that music was the only thing that let him escape from the problems of his life.
Lulu ends up in his arms yet again after she leaves to meet Logan and hears him talking to Scott saying that he followed Lulu and knew where Johnny was. Logan had followed Lulu and knew where Johnny was hiding but because he was trying to earn Lulu's trust he told Scott he was speaking hypothetically. However, Lulu missed the last part of the conversation and, ran back to the Haunted Star where she ran into Johnny's arms and kissed him passionately. When Johnny asked what happened, Lulu told him that Logan had followed them and told Scott of his whereabouts and that he had to hide somewhere else. Johnny tells Lulu he doesn't believe that Logan told his father anything because he was too in love with Lulu. He tells Lulu he doesn't want to be someone she does something with out of anger or a misunderstanding and tells her to go find Logan and ask him if he said anything and if he didn't, then Johnny would be waiting right where she left him.
In the beginning of February, Johnny was stunned to find his long lost half-sister, Claudia Zacchara, appearing in Port Charles. She had been called in by Trevor, under the mistaken assumption that Claudia would be easier to manage than Johnny. Claudia quickly makes it clear that she will run the business her way, and Johnny is amused that Trevor fell in his own trap. Claudia's one weakness, it is quickly apparent, is her younger brother, and she and Johnny discuss the past, while she shows regret for having left him there.
Lulu finds an injured Logan on the docks, and takes him back to the Spencer house, wrapping his wound. Soon, they began to kiss, and Lulu overreacts and pushes Logan away. She got away, and left the house, hurt and upset. She ran to the Haunted Star and began tinkering with the piano; Johnny soon showed up and began to play for her. Johnny told her she makes him feel "funny, in a good way, in a way no one else does," and asks her if he wasn't his father's son, if he didn't have this path to follow, if he would have "someone" there waiting for him. Lulu looked up at him, and the answer was clear on her face. He apologized for the things that happened to her because of him, the things that would happen in the future, and they kissed, as an angry Logan walked up and watched from behind the curtains. Johnny pulled away from Lulu, telling her that they couldn't do this, and once again, he tried to walk away for her safety.
Johnny also ran into Luke Spencer, after stopping by the hospital to ask Dr. Drake about his father's condition. Luke found him standing on the edge of the roof, looking below, and they bonded over their love of adventure, as well as of Lulu. Luke made it clear that he's very aware of the problems in Johnny's life, but also pointed out that as much as he would like to protect Lulu, she will make her own decisions.

Johnny's difficult home situation with his newly arrived sister continued to be stressful, and as she took control of the family business, he headed off to Kelly's finding out that Logan was the suspected Text Message Killer from Spinelli, Maxie and Jason, who warned him to be sure. As Johnny headed over to confront Logan, Lulu was at Logan's, stunned to have found a mask, phone piggyback, and other items of the TMK's. She and Logan argued about why he had the items, and he told her that he felt he couldn't compete with Johnny, that while she ran from Logan, she couldn't wait to be in Johnny's arms. He told her that he saw them together, and Lulu said nothing happened, that Johnny stopped them from doing any more than kissing. Logan told her he planned to frame Johnny for the murders, and as Johnny banged on the door, demanding to have a talk,Logan grabbed Lulu, covering her mouth, and rambling about how he wouldn't let Johnny be the hero again.
Johnny was about to walk away, after receiving no answer from his repeated knocking, when Lulu broke away from Logan, screaming his name. As Johnny broke the door down, Logan grabbed for Lulu, and she hit him with a wrench, knocking him unconscious. Johnny held Lulu, then checked Logan's pulse, and soon Lucky and Scott showed up. Johnny told Lulu not to say anything else without a lawyer, and questioned if Scott should be on the case. Later, Johnny and Lulu were at the hospital, and Sonny accosted Johnny, accusing him of having hurt Kate, who was in surgery.
On Thursday, February 21, 2008, Johnny and Lulu admitted their feelings to one another and made love at the Haunted Star, the legendary boat that held so much history for Lulu's parents. On February 22, 2008, Johnny then asked her out to dinner like "normal" kids their age. She agreed, and they went their separate ways to get ready. Lulu paid Logan a visit and found out that he had slipped into a coma, and called Johnny almost as if to cancel their date. They agreed to go ahead with it anyway, perhaps because Lulu felt comforted by the thought of being with Johnny. However, as Johnny prepared for his date, two of Sonny's men knocked him out and dragged him away. Sonny's "reasoning" for kidnapping Johnny was getting his son, Michael, returned, as he thought that the Zaccharas had kidnapped him.
Johnny woke up in a padded cell room. He looked around then started ripping the walls when he found a black marker. With the marker, he began to write the notes for "Clair De Lune" by Claude Depussy on the walls (this is a song he has played for Lulu in the past). Later on, Sonny checked in on Johnny and found the padded walls covered in musical notes.
While Lulu looked at old records of "Clair de Lune" in her mother's collection, Johnny sat in the cell filled with thoughts of Lulu. When Milo came in to announce the arrival of a snack (which Johnny declared had secured Sonny "a seat in heaven"), he began taunting Johnny about his music. Johnny, no less brave for being starved and punched, told him that art takes inspiration and that he doubted Milo could even spell "inspiration." Nevertheless, Milo's words got to Johnny and he realized he had a whole other wall to cover with music of his own. He tried to compose a song but had trouble finding that magic spark. Lulu, meanwhile, calls Johnny's phone (again) and leaves a rambling message about needing to see him.
Soon, Johnny found his inspiration in thoughts of Lulu and composed a beautiful song for her. Sonny, after threatening to cut off all of Johnny's fingers, handed Johnny a cellphone, telling him he had 24 hours to call Trevor and arrange for the release of Michael (which was, of course, impossible, as the Zaccharas did not have Michael). Johnny, taking a huge risk, called Lulu instead.
Johnny apologized for leaving her waiting for him (when they were supposed to have a date), but Lulu just told him that she was worried and asked him where he was. Looking at the song he composed for her, Johnny told her it wasn't important but that she was helping him through it. Lulu kept asking where he was and what was going on, but Johnny just said, "I just wanted to hear your voice...and to hear you say my name the way you do like it's something forbidden." Stubbornly ignoring his sweet sentiments, Lulu persisted to try to understand the situation. Trevor, outside Johnny's cell, chose to leave Johnny where he was. Lulu, upset that Johnny won't tell her where he is, was interrupted by Scott, while Johnny was quickly interrupted by Sonny, who was angry that Johnny chose to waste his phone call on Lulu. Sonny made it clear that Johnny's life was in his hands. Soon after hs ather is released, Anthony threatens Lulu's father is Lulu doesn't make John happy. Lulu agrees, but after Lulu tells Johnny this. They decide to make a "fake relationship", but soon after becomes a real relationship.
On March 11, 2008, Johnny began to name the song after Lulu, writing "Lulu's" above the notes, but couldn't think of what else to write. Tracing her name with his fingers, he seemed to find more inspiration and continued to write music for her but the marker ran out of ink. Then, in a cruel move by Sonny, the padded walls are removed and all the music is lost.
Claudia, ever the devoted sister, arranges a deal with Sonny: crucially important shipping lanes in exchange for her brother. He agrees and they meet in the cannery. Johnny's immediate reaction is concern that his sister came all by herself. Johnny and Sonny wait while Claudia calls her uncle, but then the cannery explodes from Diego Alcazar's bombs, with Johnny and others still inside.
Johnny woke in the warehouse wreckage and began shouting for his sister. He quickly discovered Michael, who was trapped under the rubble. Johnny helped Michael escape and took him out to his father and step-father. Johnny promptly returned to the building to find his sister, declaring that the police would have to shoot him to stop him. When he came back out (after overhearing a conversation between Trevor and Sonny and being unsuccessful at finding his sister) he saw Lulu, who was looking for Carly. She heard him say her name and flew into his arms. They shared a very real, very warm hug after being separated for weeks. He insisted that he had to go back into the building again, much to Lulu's horror. He found Claudia and helped her out of the building and to the hospital. While there, Sonny began taunting Claudia and Johnny attacked him and let out all his anger at the mob kingpin. Lulu, standing just around the corner, watched in horror. Shortly after, Johnny and Claudia bonded and laughed together, but as they shared a hug, Johnny was clearly troubled.
On Friday April 4, 2008 Johnny went to the Haunted Star to talk to Luke Spencer but Lulu was there instead and she told him she told her father to leave. After a heated argument about their relationship and the other's intentions, Lulu and Johnny share a passionate kiss.
Johnny and his half-sister Claudia often talk about their lives when they were younger. On Monday, April 21, Claudia lamented the day her father sent her away, how Johnny smashed his toy piano and wouldn't even look at her, although when she was driving away she saw him on the rooftop, crying and calling her name. It was revealed that Claudia is not nearly as tough as she pretends to be, as she cried, apologizing for leaving him and telling him it broke her heart to. It is also revealed that she fears her father greatly, as Johnny hugged her and promised her Anthony would never hurt her again while she sobbed on his shoulder.
Recently, Johnny and Lulu, have made it clear on how they feel towards one another. They are now both in love with one another, and are trying to bring down Johnny's father Anthony Zacchara. Both are in love, and are trying to create a future together within the havoc and chaos of the threat of the mob.
