Pacar was born John Edward Pacuraru to Judith and John Pacuraru in Dearborn, Michigan and raised in the small city of Wayne. As a child he enjoyed entertaining people. He excelled as an ice hockey player beginning at age 7 and playing into his mid teens. During his teenage years, he began to also follow his interest in music, and learnt to play guitar, bass and drums. In high school he formed a few bands driven by his punk rock influences, and developed an interest in drama at school performing in high school and local theatre prodcutions. He won an award for his documentery "Brotherhood" at the Michigan student film and video festival in 1999, and studied at the William D. Ford Career Tech Center in Westland Michigan majoring in film and photography. Upon graduating from Wayne Memorial High School in 1999, he was encouraged to pursue his craft by his drama and film production teachers.

After extensive studying and working odd jobs to save money he left Michigan for Los Angeles in May 2001. After two months Pacar had an agent, and was cast in a national commercial and a lead role in Purgatory house (2003). He has played guest roles in television productions and a few feature films including roles in Flight 29 Down, and Flight 29 Down: The Hotel Tango.
