Johnny Austin (23 December 1910–14 February 1983) was a musician born in Vineland, New Jersey. His name was originally John A. Augustine.
He played trumpet with the Glenn Miller Band, parting ways with that band in 1939. He formed the Johnny Austin Orchestra in 1947. He is considered to be one of the truly dynamic trumpeters of the big-band era[citation needed]. The Austin Band was never recorded. Johnny's playing can be heard on recordings of Jan Savitt.
