John de Jong (born 8 March 1977 in Den Haag, Netherlands) is a retired professional footballer who is known for playing for Dutch Eredivisie team PSV Eindhoven as a midfielder. He was deployed as playmaker thanks to his possession of good passing abilities.
On the 26th February 2008, John de Jong retired from football due to an injury he sustained in training in 2005. He was unable to recover even after 35 months of rehabilitation. De Jong has expressed interest in staying at PSV in a non-footballing capacity.[1]
