John Williams (New South Wales politician)

John Douglas Williams, an Australian politician, is the National Party member for Murray-Darling since March 2007.
Williams was born in Perth, where he spent the first four years of his life. He spent his next three years in Melbourne before moving to Broken Hill in 1955. He has lived there ever since.
At the 2007 New South Wales state election, Williams won the seat of Murray-Darling. His candidacy was boosted by the redistribution prior to the election, which turned the marginal Labor seat into a seat with a notional National Party majority. At the election, he increased that notional majority and defeated incumbent Labor MP, Peter Black.
Williams studied economics, accounting and financial management externally through the University of New England.
Williams is married to wife Helen. He has two children and two grandchildren.
