John W. Mayhew was the head football coach at Louisiana State University from 1909 to 1910. He finished his college football coaching career with an overall record of 3-6-0. He took over for coach Joe Pritchard in the middle of the 1909 season. He was the head coach of the LSU baseball team from 1910-1911 and his record was 15-16. He was also the head coach of the LSU basketball team from 1909-1911 and has a career record of 11-4. Mayhew was a 1909 graduate of the Brown University. He was born at Chilmark, MA October 2, 1885 and died at Pocasset, MA September 30, 1941.
