John W. Cady

John Watts Cady (June 28, 1790 - January 5, 1854) was a U.S. Representative from New York, nephew of Daniel Cady.
Born in Florida, New York, Cady attended school at the Old Stone Manse at Fort Hunter, and was graduated from Union College, Schenectady, New York, in 1808. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Johnstown (then in Montgomery County), New York. Town clerk of Johnstown 1814, 1816, and 1817. County supervisor 1818-1822 and 1826-1829. He served as member of the State assembly in 1822.
Cady was elected as an Adams-Clay Democratic-Republican to the Eighteenth Congress (March 4, 1823-March 3, 1825). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1824. He resumed the practice of law at Johnstown, New York. He served as district attorney of Fulton County 1840-1846. He was in the Justice of the Peace of Johnstown in 1853. He died in Johnstown, New York, January 5, 1854. He was interred in Johnstown Cemetery.
