John Tweedale (June 10, 1841December 21, 1920) was a Union Army soldier during the American Civil War and a recipient of America's highest military decoration the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Stones River.

After receiving his commission in the Army, Tweedale became Chief Clerk of the War Department.[1]and confirmed by Congress on April 27, 1904, as Assistant Adjutant General with the rank of lieutenant colonel.[2]

Tweedale was buried at Arlington National Cemetery,[3] Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia Plot: Section 1, Lot 470.[4]
