John Treacy Egan

John Treacy Egan (born July 10, 1962) is currently (2008) performing as Chef Louis in the Broadway musical production of The Little Mermaid. He was a member of the Broadway production of The Producers [2002-2007]. John is a graduate of the SUNY Purchase and Rye Country Day School.

In The Producers on Broadway, John has played the roles of Roger DeBris, Franz Liebkind and Max Bialystock the only actor to play all three principal roles. He can also be seen in the latest 2005 film version of The Producers starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. He was an original cast member of the Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde and can be seen in the film version through Broadway Television Networks/Atlantic Recordings. He has toured the U.S. and Europe in productions of Kiss Me, Kate and Cats. He created the role of Chef Louis in the The Little Mermaid.

Off-Broadway, John created roles in Howard Crabtree’s When Pigs Fly! and was also an original cast member of Batboy: The Musical.

John released his first solo CD Count The Stars available April 2008 on iTunes. He performed with Josh Groban in the Actors’ Fund of America Benefit of Chess. Regionally, John has performed in productions of Master Class, A Streetcar Named Desire and Children of Eden, among others. He can be heard on additional theatrical recordings such as Violet and Parusia and on many volumes of Broadway’s Greatest Gifts. He also sang with Linda Eder on her album Christmas Stays the Same and on The Producers movie soundtrack. He has appeared on Law & Order, As the World Turns, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He also sang on specials such as Bravo Presents Linda Eder in Concert and ABC’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
