John Stewart Went

John Stewart Went is the Anglican Bishop of Tewkesbury (from 1996). Born on 11 March 1944 he was educated at Colchester Royal Grammar School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge[1]. Went married Rosemary Dunn[2] in 1968 before embarking on a clerical career with a curacy in Northwood, London[3] followed by an incumbency at Margate. Vice-principal of Wycliffe Hall, Oxford[4]from 1983 until 1989 (when he became Archdeacon of Surrey). In 1996 he became the current suffragan bishopric of Tewkesbury[5].
