John Shearer Fletcher

John Shearer Fletcher (1888 - 1934) was a New Zealand Member of Parliament for Grey Lynn, in Auckland.

John Fletcher represented the Grey Lynn electorate in the New Zealand House of Representatives from 1928 to 1931 (Wilson, p.197).

In the 1928 election John Fletcher defeated Fred Bartram for Grey Lynn, but at the 1931 contest he stood as an Independent and was defeated by John A Lee (Wood, p.90; Bassett, pp.39 & 62; see Habershon, Appendix p.vi for 1928 & 1931 election results for Grey Lynn).

John Shearer Fletcher was a member of New Zealand's prominent Fletcher family (Hunt, p.174). He was born in Scotland and came to New Zealand in 1916 (A Dictionary of New Zealand Biography, Edited by G.H. Scholefield, Vol. 1, p.267, 1940, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington).
