John Shawe-Taylor

John S Shawe-Taylor is a professor at University College London (UK) where he is Director of the centre for computational statistics and machine learning. His main research area is Statistical Learning Theory, but his contributions range from Neural Networks, to Machine Learning, to Graph Theory.
He attended Shrewsbury School and graduated from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
He is the co-author of two very successful books on the theory of Support vector machines and Kernel methods:
An Introduction to Support Vector Machines (Nello Cristianini and John Shawe Taylor) Cambridge University Press, 2000
and
Kernel Methods for Pattern Analysis John Shawe Taylor and Nello Cristianini Cambridge University Press, 2004
