John Patrick Treacy

John Patrick Treacy (July 23, 1891October 11, 1964) was an American Roman Catholic bishop. He was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood on December 8, 1918 for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio.

He was appointed Coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse on August 22, 1945, and was ordained a Roman Catholic bishop on October 2, 1945.

Bishop Treacy became the fifth Bishop of the Diocese of La Crosse on August 25, 1948, upon the death of Bishop Alexander Joseph McGavick. Bishop Treacy died in La Crosse, Wisconsin.[1] Bishop Treacy was the founder of Holy Cross Seminary in La Crosse; he was also the builder of the new Cathedral of Saint Joseph the Workman in La Crosse.[2]

Bishop Treacy also ordered the closing of the Necedah Shrine of Mrs. Mary Van Hoof in 1950.[3]
