John Pankow, an American film and stage actor.

[edit] Early life

He was born on April 28, 1954[1], in St. Louis, Missouri, but grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He is the brother of James Pankow, trombonist and founding member of the band Chicago.

Pankow began in his career in the theater but worked mostly in TV and movies from 1981 to 2002.

As of late 2004, he has returned to his roots as a stage actor, on Broadway in a revival of the play Twelve Angry Men.

He is probably best remembered as Ira Buchman, Paul Reiser's cousin on the sitcom Mad About You.

He has been married to actress Kristine Sutherland since 1986. They have one daughter together, Eleanore, who recently began her own acting career as Peaseblossom in Regis High School's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by actor John Anthony Russo, current member of the resident acting company at the Flea Theater.
