John Morton is a British writer and director associated with the BBC Radio and television networks. He is perhaps best known for writing People Like Us, which starred Chris Langham. Originally produced for BBC Radio 4, it was later adapted for BBC Two.

Helen Atkinson-Wood says that, on first hearing People Like Us, she rang the BBC in praise of the programme, was given Morton's phone number, and turned his own "Are you married?" 'catchphrase' on him. He is now – to her.[citation needed]
