John McGuinness (born March 18, 1986 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish footballer who currently plays for Eircom League of Ireland First Division club Shelbourne. McGuinness plays as a goalkeeper.

McGuinness began his senior career with Kilkenny City in 2005 and later followed Kilkenny manager Pat Scully to Shamrock Rovers in 2006 making his debut on the 2nd of June in Galway [1]. He returned to Kilkenny on loan for the first half of 2007 campaign before returning to Rovers at the end the spell. He was released by Rovers at the end of the 2007 campaign after a total of four appearances.
McGuinness joined Shelbourne in February 2008 after impressing on a trial with the Dublin club[1].
