John Lister (cricketer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Lister (born April 1, 1959) was an English cricketer. Born in Darlington, he was a right-handed batsman who played for Derbyshire and Durham between 1978 and 1988.
Lister made his first-class debut in 1978, where he opened in a victory against Nottinghamshire, and he would play in two further draws in the season which saw Derbyshire finish fourth from bottom in the 1978 County Championship table.
Lister played two more first-class matches, in the disastrous 1979 season, before finding himself demoted to the Second XI, where he played for two more years. Lister was an opening batsman for the Derbyshire team.
After four years out from the game, Lister would return, playing Minor Counties cricket for five years for his home county of Durham, who he would see victorious in the English Estates Trophy of 1985, and represent until 1988.
