John Leveson-Gower, 1st Baron Gower

John Leveson-Gower, 1st Baron Gower PC (January 7, 1675August 31, 1709) was the son of Sir William Leveson-Gower, 4th Baronet and his wife Jean Granville.

His maternal grandparents were John Granville, 1st Earl of Bath and his wife Jane Wyche, daughter of Sir Peter Wyche.

John married Lady Catherine Manners, daughter of John Manners, 1st Duke of Rutland, circa September 1692. They had five children:

  • Thomas Leveson-Gower (d. 1727), died unmarried.
  • Baptist Leveson-Gower (d. 1782), died unmarried.
  • John Leveson-Gower, 1st Earl Gower (1694–1754)
  • Jane Leveson-Gower (c. 1704–1726), married John Proby and had John Proby, 1st Baron Carysfort.
  • Hon. William Leveson-Gower (c. 1709–1756), married Anne Grosvenor and had issue.

He was made a Privy Counsellor in 1702.
