John Larkin (Boston deacon)

John Larkin (?-1808)(the son of Ebenezer Larkin) served as the Deacon of the Old North Church in Boston. At the time of British troops being sent out by Governor General Sir Thomas Gage to seize weaponry held by suspected rebels on April 17, 1775, Larkin loaned his second best horse to Paul Revere, for Revere's famous ride.
During the Battle of Bunker Hill, some British troops marched through the Boston suburb of Charlestown, where Larkin's father lived. His father fired a musket out a window of his home at the British troops, who in reprisal burned his house to the ground. Ebenezer Larkin survived, and lived with his son briefly.
