John Ladenburg

John W. Ladenburg (Democrat) is the county executive of Pierce County in the U.S. state of Washington. He announced his candidacy for the 2008 election of attorney general of Washington on February 6.(1)

Ladenburg was born in Leavenworth, Washington, on September 19, 1949. In 1967, he graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington. He received an undergraduate degree in political science in 1971 and a law degree in 1974, both from Gonzaga University. He immediately began a career as a trial attorney.(2)

His political career began with a term on the Tacoma City Council from 1982 to 1986. He served as Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney from 1987 to 2000.(2) He was elected Pierce County Executive in November 2000, receiving 59.6% of the vote.(3) His wife, Connie, is currently in her second term on the Tacoma City Council.(4)
