John L. Schoolcraft

John Lawrence Schoolcraft (1804 - July 7, 1860) was a U.S. Representative from New York.

Born in Albany, New York, Schoolcraft received a limited schooling. He engaged in mercantile pursuits.

Schoolcraft was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-first and Thirty-second Congresses (March 4, 1849-March 3, 1853). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1852. Chosen president of the Commercial Bank at Albany, New York, and served from 1854 until his death. He served as delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1860. He died while returning to his home from the convention at Chicago, in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, July 7, 1860. He was interred in the Rural Cemetery, Albany, New York.
