John L. Keith was a college football coach in the United States. Prior to coaching his one year at Illinois State, he was the head coach at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL from 1899 until the end of the 1903 season. His career record was 25 wins, 6 losses, and 7 ties.

Keith was the first head coach for the Northern Illinois University Huskies located in DeKalb, Illinois and he held that position for five seasons, from 1899 until 1903. His career coaching record at Northern Illinois was 17 wins, 6 losses, and 5 ties. This ranks him ninth at Northern Illinois in total wins and third at Northern Illinois in winning percentage.[1]

Keith later became the sixth head football coach for the Illinois State Redbirds in Normal, Illinois and he held that position only for the 1907 season. His record at ISU was 8 wins, 0 losses, and 2 ties. This ranks him 13th at ISU in terms of total wins and second at ISU in terms of winning percentage.[2]
