John Joseph Merlin

John-Joseph Merlin was born on September 17th, 1735 in the city of Huy, Belgium[1], and died on May 4th, 1803 in London. He was an inventor, noted for the invention of roller skates. He also improved musical instruments and manufactured automats, such as Cox's timepiece. He created Merlin's Mechanical Museum to display his machines.[2]
