John Jay High School is a high school in Hopewell Junction, New York located on State Route 52, which teaches grades nine through 12. Students from Van Wyck and Wappingers junior high schools, who have successfully completed the eighth grade continue the ninth grade at either Roy C. Ketcham High School or John Jay. The school is a part of the Wappingers Central School District.[1] The school is named in memory of 18th century American politician, John Jay, so it is only appropriate that the school's mascot is the Patriot.
Growing pains in Southern Dutchess County have, like a number of schools in the area, taken toll on John Jay. A number of classes attend to more than 25 students. Around 2002, a new science and biology wing was constructed for the exclusive use of these courses. The school is geographically surrounded by IBM East Fishkill.
