John Jarvis (karateka)

John Hugo Jarvis is a notable karateka from New Zealand. He is Shihan, 5th Dan. His first instructor was Steve Arneil in 1967. Later, John Jarvis was a personal representative of Masutatsu Oyama and Kyokushinkai chief instructor in New Zealand. In 1974 he switched to Okinawa Goju-ryu karatedo. He is the fifth person to complete the 100-man kumite. John Jarvis retired from karate in 1987 and now writes books. His fourth, Kurosaki Killed the Cat, was published in 2006.
