John Jackson (Virgin Islands boxer)

John Jackson (b.January 16, 1989 ) is an amateur boxer from the Virgin Islands who has qualified for the Olympics 2008 at welterweight. He is one of the sons of Julian Jackson, his brother Julius Jackson has qualified at light-heavy.

At the PanAm Games 2007 he ran straight into favorite Demetrius Andrade and was beaten 5:23 at the 2007 World C hampionships he again lost in the first round this time to a Aliasker Bashirov.

At the first Olympic qualifier in March 2008 , however, he easily beat respected Argentinian Diego Chaves and upset PanAm Champ Pedro Lima 19:10 to qualify. In the meaningleess final he lost to Cuban Carlos Banteaux.
