John J. Buro

John J. Buro (born in Brooklyn, New York on October 8, 1960) is a professional American sportswriter and also a published author, screenwriter, and lyricist. He has published two novels: Bite of the Shark (2002) and Deliver Us From Evil (2006). His third book, Profiles: Stories from the Sidelines is set to be released later this year. His first screenplay, Best Seats In The House, was written in 2004.
Buro, a 1978 graduate of John Jay High School (Brooklyn) is of Italian-American descent and a past recipient of the George Goldstone Medal of Journalism. Buro’s arrival into the world of journalism is slowly blossoming, and he has established a regular beat with the NBA, NFL and WNBA.
Among his more celebrated interviews are those with Christopher Reeve, the beloved actor who would pass on just months later, and a special retrospective on Rachel Robinson, the widow of baseball legend Jackie Robinson.
