John Hubert Arthur Coulson

John Hubert Arthur Coulson (born August 10, 1906) is an English writer of detective novels and screenplays, who has written under the pen name John Bonnet.
A native of Longbenton, Northumberland, Coulson is the author of a number of detective fiction books, including Perish the Thought. His wife, Felicity Winifred Carter was also a novelist who worked primarily in the mystery genre. Using the pseudonym Emery Bonnet, she penned such works as Never Go Dark, Make Do with Spring and High Pavement. They were married in London on January 21, 1939.
Under the noms de plume of John and Emery Bonnet, they wrote many suspense, mystery and detective novels such as Dead Lion, A Banner for Pegasus, No Grave for a Lady, Better Dead, The Private Face of Murder, This Side Murder, The Sound of Murder and No Time to Kill.
In 1955 they collaborated on the screenplay for Children Galore, a 60-minute low-budget comedy directed by Terence Fisher, which received moderate praise in the local press for the lively dialogue and originality of its point of view. Leaving their usual milieu of murder and mayhem, the authors presented a cheerfully frantic story of a group of elderly matriarchs in a small English town competing for the largest number of grandchildren in their families.
