John Holmstrom

John Holmstrom is an American underground cartoonist and writer. He is best known for illustrating the covers of the Ramones albums Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin, as well as his characters Bosko and Joe (published in Scholastic's Bananas magazine from 1975-1984). As the co-founder of Punk Magazine at the age of 21 in late 1975, Holmstrom's work became the visual representation of the Punk era. After Punk ceased publication in 1979, he worked for several publications, such as Stop! Magazine, Comical Funnies, Video Games, Twist, High Times and Heavy Metal magazine .
In 2000, he attempted to revive Punk magazine, which now runs as a Website. In 2006, he released "Bosko" #1, a comic book under the new Punk Comics banner. John Holmstrom also illustrated the cover for the most definitive book on the Ramones "On The Road With The Ramones" written by Monte A. Melnick the Ramones Tour Manager, as well as covers for punk rock bands such as Meat Depressed, The Kowalskis and Richard Lloyd. [1] In 2007 an independent feature film entitled Loren Cass was released which includes the feature film debut of John Holmstrom. [2]
