John Herbert (athlete)

John Herbert (born April 20, 1962) is a British athlete and bobsledder who competed from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s.

[edit] Athletics career
Herbert competed in athletics as a triple jumper in the 1980s. He competed in two Summer Olympics, not qualifying for the final in 1984, but finishing 10th in 1988. Herbert also represented Great Britain at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki, but did not qualify for the final.
[edit] Bobsleigh career
Herbert switched to bobsleigh in the late 1980s or early 1990s. His best finish at the Winter Olympics was eighth in the four-man event at Lillehammer in 1994.

Herbert served as an athletics coach for the jumping events at the 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004 Summer Olympics for Great Britain. He also owns a film distribution company and works as a freelance graphics designer.
