From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Hackworth is an assistant coach for the United States Men's National Team. He was appointed to that position on October 24, 2007. In addition to his role as an assistant, Hackworth will oversee technical aspects of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.[1]

Prior to this appointment, John was the head coach for the US Under 17 Men's National Team at USSF's IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, Florida. John took over the US Under 17s from former head coach John Ellinger in November of 2004 after working as his assistant for over two years. Before joining the U.S. Soccer federation coaching staff, John was head coach at the University of South Florida.

"John Hackworth" is also the name of a major character in the science fiction novel The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson, unrelated to soccer.

'Hack' recently returned from the U 17 world cup in Asia where his team lost in the quarterfinals to Germany.
