John Francis Whealon (January 15, 1921 - August 2, 1991) was a Roman Catholic archbishop.

He was ordained a priest in Cleveland, Ohio on May 26, 1945.

He was appointed an Auxiliary Bishop in Cleveland in June 1961 as well as Titular Bishop of Andrapa. He was ordained a Bishop a month later.

In December 1966, Bishop Whealon was appointed the Bishop of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Two years later, he came to Hartford, Connecticut to head the Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford. He was installed on March 19, 1969 as the second Archbishop of Hartford and served here until the time of his death in August 1991.

The Archbishop died unexpectedly during a routine surgical procedure at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

The Archdiocese's annual fundraising golf tournament is named in his honor. Additionally, the Waterbury chapter of the Knights of Columbus bears his name - the Archbishop John F. Whealon Council 10865.
