John Flowers (born June 13, 1988 in Waldorf, Maryland) is a basketball player for the West Virginia Mountaineers.

John Flowers grew up in the Maryland-DC area. Prior to his junior season, Flowers attended Thomas Stone High. As a junior at St. Mary Ryken High in Leonardtown, Flowers averaged 17.5 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks per game. As the captain during his senior season, he averaged 18 points, 13.2 rebounds, 6.4 blocks, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He was a first team all-Washington Athletic Conference honoree and was the Southern Maryland Player of the Year along with being named team MVP. He was also named to the all-Met team and was in the 34th annual Capital Classic, where he scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He also won the dunk contest at the Classic.

John Flowers was a 3-star recruit who was offered scholarships from West Virginia University, La Salle, University of Maryland, and Saint Joseph's University. Flowers signed with West Virginia during the early signing period.

John Flowers came to West Virginia as a forward under John Beilein. However, Beilein left West Virginia for the head coaching position at the University of Michigan. West Virginia then hired Bob Huggins to coach his alma mater.

In the season opening victory over Arkansas-Monticello, Flowers scored 5 points in six minutes in his first collegiate action. In the next two games, Flowers totaled 8 rebounds. Then in the 110-44 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore, Flowers scored 14 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished 4 assists. In the 96-68 victory over Duquesne, Flowers scored 13 points. In the 90-60 victory over Radford University, Flowers scored 10 points in 18 minutes of game time. In the 63-54 loss to Louisville, Flowers scored 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. In the 73-64 victory over St. John's University, Flowers scored 10 points. After the 58-57 loss to Georgetown, Flowers saw little time in the next five games. However, in the 80-53 victory over Providence, Flowers scored 7 points in 13 minutes. In the 85-73 victory over DePaul for the 20th win of the season, Flowers scored 7 points in 15 minutes off the bench. Flowers scored 9 points in the following loss to Connecticut. In the home finale victory, 76-62, over the Pittsburgh Panthers in the Backyard Brawl rivalry, Flowers played 17 minutes and recorded 3 points and 3 rebounds.

Flowers finished his freshman season by averaging 4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game with 12.4 minutes per game off the bench.
