John Flanagan (politician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Flanagan is a New York State Senator elected in 2002 to represent New York's 2nd district. He was re-elected in 2006 by a 60% majority against Brooke Ellison, who was the first quadriplegic to graduate from Harvard University. It was thought that her limited experience with politics and the popularity of the incumbent led to her defeat. John Flanagan has solid support in New York among Democrats and Republicans alike, and will likely remain at his seat in the senate, which in New York has always been Republican controlled. Flanagan's father, also named John, served in the New York State Assembly from 1972 to 1986.
