John Finnigan (born 29 March 1976 in Wakefield) is an English professional footballer currently playing for Coca Cola League One club Cheltenham Town. A midfielder, Finnigan joined Cheltenham from Lincoln City in 2002 and has gone on to be a key player for the club, wearing the number 8 shirt. He is the current club captain.
Finnigan had been at Lincoln for four years, following a successful loan spell from Nottingham Forest, where he was a trainee. He is 5 foot 8 inches tall.
During Cheltenham's 2-1 home defeat against Bradford City in September 2006, Finnigan was grabbed by the testicles by opponent Dean Windass. Finnigan was then sent off for raising his arm to Windass in order for him to release his grip. [1]
