John En Marsha (English: John and Marsha) was the longest-running and most-watched prime time comedy sitcom in the Philippines during the 1980's that aired on Radio Philippines Network (RPN). It starred Dolphy with the late Nida Blanca, Dely Atay-Atayan and Maricel Soriano. The show ran from 1973 to 1990. The cast include John Puruntong, his wife Marsha, their children Rolly, Shirley and John-John, and his pesky and nagging mother-in-law Doña Delilah. On the show, TV viewers heard Doña Delilah say her famous punch line "Kaya ikaw John, magsumikap ka!" (John, you have to work hard!) every week for 17 years until 1990. A spin-off from the series, John En Shirley, aired on ABS-CBN in 2006 with only two returning cast members, Dolphy and Maricel Soriano, reprising their old roles.

[edit] Plot
John marries Marsha much to the dismay of his wealthy mother-in-law Doña Delilah. Although her daughter married the jobless John, Doña Delilah often pays a visit to their house along with her maid, Matutina. When money was required, she would tell her maid Matutina to go sweep peso bills off the floor. However, John rejects all the financial help Doña Delilah offers his family which always winds up in a hilarious exchange of insults between the two. The show ends with Doña Delilah's loud nagging line "Kaya ikaw John, magsumikap ka!" to insult John's capability as the father of the household.
