John Ellis (cricketer)

John Ernest Ellis was a first class cricketer who played 11 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1888 and 1892.

A wicket keeper, he took 11 catches and completed 10 stumpings but was less successful with the bat, scoring just 14 runs in 15 innings for an average of 1.55. His best score was 4 not out. He also played for Yorkshire Second XI in 1892.

Born on November 10, 1864 in Sheffield, Yorkshire he died there on December 1, 1927
