John Duff Lowe (born April 1942, in West Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire) was a in the same class as Len Garry. John "Duff" Lowe was invited to play piano with The Quarrymen by Paul McCartney in 1958. He was in the band for two years and he was there when the Quarrymen (the others being John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Colin Hanton) went to a studio in Liverpool to record a couple of songs for a vanity disc. The two tracks cut were "That'll Be the Day" and "In Spite of All the Danger".

His son Henry Lowe now plays the keyboard for Flukestar, a new up and coming classic rock band from Bristol
